Dawnmates privacy policy
This page explains what Dawnmates keeps about you, who can see it, and how to have it removed. We've kept it short and plain on purpose.

Who we are
Dawnmates is made by Pebblecraft, a small studio. When this page says "we", it means Pebblecraft.
For privacy questions or requests, write to privacy@dawnmates.app. For help using the app, write to support@dawnmates.app.
What we keep
Dawnmates starts with an account that has no email and no password. It is created the first time you open the app, so you can use it right away.
We keep these things on our servers:
- Your wake times, your days off, and the mornings you checked in or slept in
- Your crew: who is in it, their names and chosen faces
- Nudges sent between crew members
- Your purchases and gifts, so they come back on a new phone
- An anonymous account ID, and your Apple ID link if you chose to sign in with Apple
Signing in with Apple is optional. It helps keep your account safe if you change phones. We receive only a stable Apple identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name. We never see your email address, unless Apple's private relay provides one. We don't send email to it.
What stays on your phone
These things are kept on your phone and are not sent to us:
- Your alarms and their backup reminders run on your phone, even with no connection
Who can see what
Other people in your crew can see:
- Your name and face
- Your wake time
- Whether you are up, snoozed or sleeping in
You join a crew with a six-letter invite code or a link like https://dawnmates.app/join/CODE. Invite links stop working after two weeks. Anyone who has a valid code or link can join, so share it only with people you want in.
You can leave a crew whenever you like. If you created it, you can also remove other people. You can block another person: you disappear from each other's views, and they can't send you nudges or gifts.
Nobody outside your crew can see what you put in Dawnmates. We don't sell or rent your data, and there are no ads in the app.
Your alarms
Your alarm and its backup reminders are scheduled on your phone and work without a connection. Your crew sees whether you checked in, never where you are or what else you do.
Purchases
Everything you buy in Dawnmates, including Dawnmates Plus, item packs and gifts, goes through Apple's App Store and is billed to your Apple ID. We never see your card or payment details.
We use a service called RevenueCat to process purchase records for us. It holds your purchase history and an app user ID, which is the same ID as your Dawnmates account. This is how your purchases come back on a new phone.
When you buy something as a gift, your friend receives it with no payment and no sign-in.
Family Sharing is not offered.
Diagnostics and crash reports
Usage statistics are off until you switch on diagnostics sharing in Dawnmates's settings. When it is on, we use PostHog, with servers in the EU, to see which parts of the app get used. Each event carries your account ID, the app name, your device model, your iOS version and what was used. It never includes health values, photos, or the names of other people. You can switch it off at any time.
If the app crashes, a report goes to Sentry, with servers in the EU. It carries your account ID, your device model and your iOS version. It never includes health values or photos.
Notifications
Notifications reach your phone through Apple's notification service. They carry only short texts, like "Sam fed Miso". We keep a record of delivered notifications for 90 days.
Where your data is stored
We host your data with Supabase, on servers in the United States (us-east-1). So if you live in the EU or the UK, your data is sent to the United States.
For people in the EU and UK, the companies that handle your data for us are bound by standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. These are the legal safeguards for sending data across borders.
How long we keep it
Your data stays for as long as your account exists.
Notification records are kept for 90 days. Short-lived server queues are kept for 30 days. We keep no backups beyond our host's standard rolling backups.
Deleting your account
Open Dawnmates, go to Settings, then Delete account. It finishes right away. It removes:
- your account and your personal data
- what you added that others in your crew could see
- your push addresses, which are how notifications find your phone
- your purchase link in RevenueCat
- your Apple sign-in, which we also cancel with Apple
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. You cancel that with Apple, in Settings.
Children
Dawnmates is not for children under 13. If we learn that a child's data was collected, we delete it. If you think this has happened, write to privacy@dawnmates.app.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, or stop using it in a way you object to. You can also ask for your data in a form you can take elsewhere. Write to privacy@dawnmates.app. We answer within 30 days.
